Oh boy, I hope it's over soon it's been quite a ride but I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I am off work next week so I will have some time to fiddle with it and get her ready for water.

The salmon is waiting for my boat to be ready to start showing up in good numbers.

New to me that is... who can afford them 300s brand new??, maybe our Floridian friends....LOL...
however, the motor (2012) seems to be in good shape with 470 hrs. The hours breakdown shows nothing too exciting most hours are idle or cruise. The place I bought it from is sending me a new impeller so, so far no major glitches.
It is a fly by wire, getting the controls and setting it up was a bit of an uphill battle. Just figured out how to get the motor data through NEMA 2k, $350 later...

After installing a 15.25x19P on the main and not getting more than 5000(barely)RPM at WOT, returned it and switched to a 14.25x17P which passed the WOT test with 6000RPM. Yamaha calls for 5000 to 6000 WOT.
It is not the speed demon all my friends suggested it would be, and coming from the former 496 mag (375hp) the WOT at 41mph SOG it is a bit of stand still for me.
Anyway here's a couple numbers: boat was 1/4 fuel, myself and my son around 400lbs, some gear, not quite loaded:

2000 ---3.44 ---9.80
3000 ---2.78 ---16.34
4000 ---2.66 ---24.73
5000 ---2.28 ---33.86

Turned out great! You guys can pretty much fish anytime up there?

Seems to me that a cruise between 4 and 5 K is a good 25knts...that is a good controlable comfortable speed on the water. Nice job, now show us some pics of the whole boat in the water. THX!!

Pretty much year 'round, this year's been hit and miss fishing due to the repower project, usually we're fishing 100-130 days per year.

Sounds kind of slow. My 23'x9.5" Almar (25' from the bow to motor mount). ran 37kts with a Suzuki 225hp which is 42.5mph. I would guess that yours would be faster

That was my gut feeling as well. Used to run a Concept Designs 24 ft with a full cabin, Mercruiser 496 mag 375HP Bravo II leg 18* deadrise close to 48.5 kn at WOT.

The new (to me) ride has a 14* deadrise which I thought (hoped) would be if not as fast at least more economical to run than my last one. Boat is in moorage now but will need to check maybe my motor is buried, prop should be close... heads a spinnin

Hi you asked me a couple question before on my intro post. your wheel is a tad small fot that motor boat. he's some that will be right in there for your
-yamaha SS II 15 1/2"x17p
-yamaha SS 15 1/4x17 (can find these cheap on ebay, original series salt water)
-Michigan apollo same sizes
-merc thunderbolt same size and prob the best

19 is a bit to much for your app. 14.25 is a bit small dis. wise you want 15 to 15.25 would be real nce in a 17p. The original yamaha saltwater series made a 15.5x17p, thats your prob, and their cheap on ebay,

This should increase your numbers if your mounted correctly. Go to Merc racing, merc got it down, bottom of anti vent plate 3/4" above the keel for every foot mounted aft. Usually gets you right in there without cavitation, then @ 14* degrees deadrise at I'm guessing 5,000-5,000 lbs dry, you should see significant improvement.

I agree that the Small Dia. blade Might not be the right blade for your boat.

Original Prop ever been damaged?
Modified?

The Numbers don't jive. Your Prop Change should have bumped your RPM up to around 5600, not 6000. Got a buddy with a 15.25 X 17 prop that you can bum for a test run.

Got one coming in a couple days, guess I got a 14.5 for a spare... time will tell

Biggest (small) problem I seem to be having with the boat is the combination of self bailing deck/high rails, the fish is a lot harder to get in without a longer gaff or net

So today I got a little carried away and thought gaining some real estate on the port side seating area was a good idea
