Re: kiwi alloy boats
Marty,
looks to be straight shafts out the stern and twin rudders to me...probably lot less headaches, than any arneson drive.

Re: kiwi alloy boats
Cool looking boat, Great hull design, is it based on the Kona Cat?

Re: kiwi alloy boats
Hi everyone
Lester - yep i built it by myself. Taken heaps of time over 1000 days in my spare time, which is hard to come by. Its build from 5083 grade plate, apart from 4mm plate in floor sole and 6mm in engire room the entire skin is 3mm plate with heaps of 50 x 6 flat bar while downing bottles of Jim beam for sanity.
Chaps & marty- the engire package is 13B T Rotary stock standard with minor porting still yet to be fire up but estimates take it to be around 250 each engine. Three stage auto gearboxes with maual valve bodies for quick gear selection when required. Argo c600 V Drives, there are rated to 600 hp each with 1inche (304 grade) shafts with cutlass bearings and pss seales. Maximum 6 and a half thousand RPM and the V drives have been geared down by 42%. As for propellors and motors everyting else has been construced by myself.
Bevan - thanks heaps for for the comments. Funny you said Kona Cat, they were build back in the approx 1987 when i was working in the drawing office for Scott Robson haven't seen many of his boats since, that was many years ago. Do you know of anyone who ones one?

Re: kiwi alloy boats
Yeah we had a couple of them through our shop, we had one for a demo boat, My dad was really impressed with them, that hull shape worked really well for such a short cat. Just a pity the cat thing in New Zealand has never taken off.
