Saw an interesting 24 almar jet boat for $15k. It says it needs some attention, so may be a good project boat for the right person.

How about some details? what is the true condition of the boat? What are you thinking of doing with it? would you keep the water jet, or change to outboards? Does it have the same deep v hull as the other almar offshore boats, or is it flattened out?

At this point, it looks like I'm not going to proceed with buying the boat. First and foremost, the weight of it plus the trailer is over the towing capacity of my F-150. Second of all, I got word that it will probably be sold tomorrow. That's okay with me....I had a few things to work through before making the purchase and this is the busiest time of the year for me at work so I don't have the time to devote to boat modifications. My goal would have been to have a bracket welded on the stern and mount an outboard.

We made it home today, still surprised we were able to get it ... good deals go fast.

Congrats on the purchase. Your truck made it but for how long will it last. Weak point is the transmission and brakes.

I'm very happy I could help! Congrats on the new boat, and let us know what you do to it. I have seen several of those 24 almars out at Neah bay. they were all converted from I/O to outboard on a bracket. those boats are tough as they come.

Just ripping the dated stuff off for now, cleaning up some wiring etc. Once the other GF sells will make a decision whether to re-power. Spoke to Hamilton Jet and they suggested the 212 pump is not meant for salt water usage so I should start budgeting for a 213. Only 12-14k new

thxs, I've never been to Sooke, but hear they have great fishing out from there. I'll have to go there sometime and see for myself. boat looks great! looks good without the stickers. looks really clean!

Well,
Saturday the wind was blowing 20, no backup engine, no chartplotter and no fuel management system on the 16 yr old engine which I may say ran flawlessly.
Nothing more than scratching the itch to have her in the water after almost two months of looking at her on the hard. I am happy to say that I was quite impressed with the ride in 3-4ft chop both into and following seas. A very dry ride with no teeth chattering kidney pounding aluminum boat slap. With only a 14 deg stern deadrise I am going to say at this time it ran better than my ol' boat at 18 deg. Very stable at rest at the dock, almost as stable as my friends catamaran. Only thing, with a shallow ramp it was challenging getting her off and on the trailer. Guess I am going to have to use the deeper/steeper ramp they just built. This is the first time I ever ran a jet so that was rather interesting maneuvering at the dock, bit of a looser steering that I am used to.
