I want to make sure I'm not damaging my hull !
My trailer bunks have the black indoor outdoor turf like carpet and I store my boat on the trailer, store outside in the weather uncovered
The front bunks have a white chaulky powder on them. The rear bunks do not have this
I assume this is from water trapped between the hull and the bunk and I do flush the boat with fresh water after every use.
It's hard for me to imagine any significant ammount of salt to remain on these bunks after a hard rinse with fresh water
I rinse the heck out of the boat and the trailer
What should I do to eliminate this potential problem ?
Is there a possibility stray current can exsit while sitting on the trailer ?
What should I do ?

The next time you launch the boat lets do some checking on the trailer ..........
#1 are there any staples that the hull is sitting on ?
#2 are the bunks made with Pressure treated lumber ?
#3 A fix on the bunks would be to only carpet 3 sides so they will dry out fast .
I also have a white substance all over my boat and trailer . My problem is I live on a WHITE ROCK ROAD and the dust is a woolly bugger .
Nat check those bunks and let us know what ya find.

the bunks are treated pine, I'll check the bunks again for a exposed bolt head or staples

Nat , ya need to find out what kind of treatment was use on the wood as the chemicals in the treatment can react with the alloy.
I would remove the treated wood and use Raw Cypress wood and carpet only 3 sides. It's just like the new stuff they treat deck lumber with , you have to use special screws or the chemicals eat the wood screws.

Oh yeah, Nat, I will be in Pensacola June 9th for a couple weeks [ Fishing the Bill Hargraves again ] think we can get together this year and down some Fisherman's refreshments ? We have plenty of room on my cousins dock on Chico Bayou.
Maybe we can buddy boat out to the edge.

it's carpet on 3 sides, and by the looks of the color of the wood, It has to be "Yella Wood"
I'll call the trailer builder on monday and find out for sure
Had no idea treated wood could be a problem, I can pull the carpet and put a layer of cypress over the top of the treated wood, then reattach the carpet.
