Kingfisher 2725

Not being able to find this type of boat in the Chesapeake Bay area, I traveled to the Seattle Boat Show last week and bought the Kingfisher 2725 after looking at the many offerings there. This is just a stock picture, but it looks a lot like this. It's being picked up by the carrier tomorrow morning and hauled across country to Gloucester, Virginia and being delivered next week. I'll still have to rig electronics after it gets here. It's equipped with a Mercury Verado 250 and a 9.9 Mercury Bigfoot Prokicker. I anticipate getting far more use from this with far less maintenance and operating expense than my NON ALLOY behemoth.
Regards,
John

Thanks for the welcome! I'll have some actual pictures after the boat arrives. I wonder why you don't see more of this style boat on the bay. About the only ones I see that are similar are police or military boats.
How do you get a photo to show up in your signature? Mine just shows the URL.

I'm with ya there....Why don't ya see any in Florida either? With so many boats all over the place. And water water everywhere.
You're in a that area and should see BlackLabs (www.boemarine.com)around since Boe Marine is a dealer for them.
I think it's because, most aluminum boats are not sitting on a lot, where there's green ones and blue ones, and red ones to choose from. Most are boats that you get built.
There's a bias or ignorance toward things that are not in the consumer mainstream.
I was the first to have Lenco Electric trim tabs on a boat in my area, and was told by so many that they won't hold up in the saltwater and Bennet's were the only way to go.....needless to say those tabs are still on the 11 year old boat!
And when I had my BLM built....Oh the crap I was told.
But you will turn heads and make people think that's for sure.
That boat you got is NICE. I enjoyed surfing the link you put up.
WELCOME!
Can't wait to see & hear more about your bay adventures.

We did look at the BOE Black Lab display at the Kent Island boat show last year, but while they are very nice boats they don't have the amenities we wanted. Since my wife is my boating and fishing partner, and we occasionally overnight, we need more of the "comfort" available in the Kingfisher.
This will be the boat's new home on the York River:

Now THAT is a dock. Your lucky you found the boat you wanted. Lake Union Sea Ray is one of the few places that has them in stock. I was talking to one of the other Harbercraft dealers who told me all 2008 build slots are filled so if you wanted to order a boat to your specs, you would be well into 2009 for a delivery date.

I actually got it from Lake Union Sea Ray at the Seattle Boat Show. It was a 2007 model so they discounted it heavily, but it was equipped with almost everything I would have ordered anyway. What I wanted and it didn't have were simple to add after the fact anyway. Win-Win! :D

NICE CRAFT!!!
Hey John,
One more alumahollic joins the gang.
Welcome to the real world of metal and welds. I look at Kingfisher but he wanted to finish everything and I want a self do-er, she is a nice look'in rig.
What are you going to power her with?
Post some pictures of her and her insides once she arrives home. That beautiful dock will at lease have a respectable and pretty little lady adorning it. Good luck! May you and family get years of use and happy memories with her.
Marty

Thanks for the welcome! She has a Verado 250 main with a kicker. She arrived in Virginia from Seattle yesterday afternoon, a little dirty from over 3000 miles on the road on the trailer, but otherwise none the worse for wear. I'll get some pictures this weekend to post and start installing my electronics.

John

Yeah, that looks a lot like it, but that one that was inside the hall is a 2825 or a 3025, a little longer and a little wider than the 2725, but otherwise set up about the same. I wanted to keep the boat to a 8.5 ft beam so I would not have to deal with oversize permits when trailering.

John

I have not decided on a name for sure yet. My previous boat, a Proline 2950 NON ALLOY monster was "Coast2Coast"
'
I also have an aluminum Tracker Targa 18 that is "Coast2Coast Jr."
I was thinking I would go to another name on this boat, but see as how it has truly traveled from coast to coast, I may just stay with that. What do you think?
It's a bit windy here today!

-Mother of all creatures BIG and small...........I'd say so!!!!
Yep, I bet that boat will feel like a race car compared to a big NON ALLOY heavyweight...
First thing I noticed in 26' BLM is the stability! My god compared to my ole 23' plastic boat (which I used to think was a stable boat for it's size), my new alloy boat was the Prudential ROCK!
I think after a few big time fishing trips, you'll be like many of us, and wanna kick yer own behind, because you could have been fishing/cruising all along in a Alloy boat, but paid with the perverbial learning curve.
I too had a small Aluminum boat, and always remembered the joy it gave me, and wondered why I ever sold it.
Hope the seas/bay lays down for ya so we can see some "out doing it" pics from ya.
