Re: ACB sale:
Great riding boats. Prices through the roof.
I bid on a 2004 26' ACB at the government surplus auction in St. Augustine, but lost the
bid to someone paying $75K. The custodian afterwards told me that they paid $85K
new for the boat, trailer and motors. Now they sell for $175K.
Tell me, how does a boat double in price in four years?
Answer: government contracts. ACB is at full production with military and commercial boats.
They will take an order for a recreational boat, but it will not be priced to sell, IMHO.

Re: ACB sale:
well they're having a big sale on inventory boats now.
I've always thought of them as a real "specialty" boat, not for the masses by any means.
I did see one smaller boat at the Big Miami show many years ago, un-painted, with no frills.
Can ya' believe that....alloy at "the Miami"?

Re: ACB sale:
Yes, the inventory sale gives you a $30K savings. The 25' Waverunner starts
around $150K.
What is the price of the boat in question with the savings included?

Re: ACB sale:
I have never really liked the look of ACBS. However at this years Seattle Boat Show, they had one with a slightly different sheerline and it has really grown on me since. I didn't get a picture but I will see if i can snap one next time I see the boat.
It was much better looking than this beauty:

Re: ACB sale:
holy "railings"!
Now that looks like a Whaling boat! Wonder how ya get to the bow? Thru a hatch?

Re: ACB sale:
It's a walk-around -- not really, but sort of. To get to the bow there is a narrow side deck
(or gunnel top) that you can walk on while holding on the handrail on top of the cabin.

He might as well add a catwalk and some railings along the sides to get up to the bow.

Re: ACB sale:
People that run ACB's say that they have an unbelievably smooth ride. They are touted as unsinkable (within reason). I have a friend running a 30'x10' ACB with twin zuke 300's for a charter company up here. He likes the ride. I just cannot warm up to the look. They also lose a lot of interior room due to the chambers. Plus they sure are proud of them. I believe that he paid about $270K three seasons ago and that was with twin 250's.
Spending my kids inheritance with them, one adventure at a time.

Re: ACB sale:
More RICH Alaskans, huh.....?
Holy Shet, the $$ people spend there for boats is unreal.
At Jacksonville Florida prices, I'd have to fish every day for two life times to pay for a boat that price.
I'm obviously in the wrong part of the country I can see.  "where it's warm, and non-seasonal."
SEASONAL. Thats the key to making people BEG for it.

Gotta beef with AK, huh? It seems like any post about the boats we use up here gets the same smart BACK SIDE quips from you. Life is about choices, Jettywolf... The guy that owns this boat is retired military. He then was hired back as a civilian, I believe. The boat does two a day charters fishing up to eight per trip at a rate of $225 per head. The boat pays for itself. His other two boats fish six. Pretty smart choice on his part if you ask me. I enjoy reading your posts about the way you guys in the warm water fish, but am a little tired of the comments about our "lavish" boats and life style up here. I am off to go spend all that money I have LOL. Actually, I have papers to grade. Enjoy your day and put your sunscreen on!
