If you had to buy another motor

Would you buy the same again or change brands ?

This is not a BASH FEST but a reason why would be cool . Like need more HP or twins , Gas or Diesel and so on .

For the boat I own I am very happy with the Honda BF225 and would buy again if it was stolen. If I owned a Pacific 26 I would look at the Suzuki 300 as the Honda does not make a motor bigger than 225HP.

My motor on my old boat was a Yamaha 150 2strk and it ran like a top for 22 years...still running strong with it's new owner I hear.
If that doesn't build brand loyalty, I don't know what does. My current motor is a Yamaha 225 4 strk and seems perfect for my Pacific 23. If I get a bigger boat, I'll get a bigger Yamaha.

You know, I hang around and talk with a lot of the Baja (Mexico) fisherman (These dudes use the heck out of their gear)… They swear by them Hondas, the Yamahas come in second… To answer your question, If I had to repower my Wellcraft I would go Honda (If I could afford it)…

My Klamath is going to be repowered with a Honda 50 in the future (That’s unless I buy a Pacific Skiff

)… They tell me all the time, “Just change you’re oil and filters, and they’ll run forever.”

My buddy runs this here 26’ Panga with a Honda 150 and we hall BACK SIDE all over the place on almost no fuel… Now, don’t tell my boys on BD’s how economical these Hondas are because, well they just won’t believe you… Over 2000 hours, on this outboard and still going strong….

I know you all talk about the the new motors, but I have to stick with the old school motors. I have a 1988 evinrude 88spl, never rebuilt. I only change the normal things on it, i.e. fuilds, plugs and wires. If its not broke don't change.

Growing up we had a 2 stroke johnson(25 hp), then wanted more power and got a 2 stroke suzuki(40hp). They both ran great. When I got my Klamath, I had a 70 evinrude. I had problems with it, but it made that tinney scream. My first four strokes were F100 yamahas and they performed great for the 1000 hours that I ran them. I currently have twin F250's and after a season of running them, I have had no issues. It comes down to dealer service for me and I have had a great experience with my local dealer. That being said, the suzuki 300's have really piqued my interest.

If I had a Pacific/BLM 26 footer I'd have a 225 Honda.....and never look back.

super economy, quiet and I've owned every other flavor and color before and will stick with Silver. If there comes a next time.

Just don't get why a 26 needs more power than that? Maybe others want a high fuel bill. I'm not a coastie chancing bad guys or a tow boat, so I'll stay with less fuel means more $$ in my pocket, and more fishing I can doon my own. Cubic inches usually means more GPH, we seem to never be able to get away from that fact.....or am I really lost in a Cave on Mars??

Never ever a 2 stroke engine again. I've blown up too many. "ETEC" or not.

Great motor!! Had a similar 90 on two boats......with VRO.

I love my Yammie, but would love to put the futuristic 200hp 4cyl on her

I have been thinking of getting a Pacific 23, I think I would be happy with 150hp for what I use it for, the only issue is new 23s have a 30" transom and you cannot get any 150hp in a 30" leg.
I currently have a pair of Yamaha F150s, I have not actually run them yet but I am impressed with how they are made and electrical connections. I am rigging them myself.
I am intrigued with the E-tecs but I have a feeling when it comes to resale the majority of the buyers will only see 2 stroke and resale will suffer. My FIL is getting a 225 E-tec on a 24' bay boat in a month or so, can't wait to see how it performs.

I run a 150hp 25" It's fine........Tell jay you want the boat built for a 25" shaft motor and he'll take it from there

yep Welder has a 25 incher........But, when I got my BLM I really never thought about it. Then when I first put the new gal in the water I was amazed at how high and really dry the entire top half of the motor was. Jay said, "you have the 30" transom, you'll like it." Hmmm...YEP.

I like it that way. One minute I'm just "Joe boater" and then next minute we're casting to the end of the jetties

and I'm backing into four footers, barreling inside the inlet. When I had my 5 bay boats, man did we get the water over the stern, and in my MayCraft 23 it ran up the cut transom and all the way to the console.

Mac, the boat is available with either transom , 25" or 30" , I have the 25" [ Less parts and I have NO problem
with the motor going under ] The free board and trans height are the same with either one , it's just where the mount is.

And yes 5" higher is 5" higher above the water. It's all in what ya want.

What would be interesting here is on a 30" tansom what hole you are in for optimal performance. I have a 25 incher too

but am all the way up on the bottom mount hole....so where is the motor really in comparison to a 30 incher.....

If a 30 incher in mounted down on hole two than what truly is the difference between the two........

I have no clue and don't care :lol: :lol: all I know is my motor seems to sit higher than any other O/B I have ever owned on any other boat. Thats why I put my trust in the folks at Pacific. From start to finish building a boat like these and even the rigging part, has been like no other boat I have ever purchased. Very commercially built, of course and just different than all my other ping-pongers.

Or is it because its a big azz Honda cowling, compared to a Yammie HPDI or Evinrude "smoker" 200?
Maybe, but I don't think thats it.

I don't like any of the outboards I have now. Except for maybe
the Yamaha T25 on my 15' Stabi.

I liked the twin DF140s on my old boat (A Whaler I just sold,
but we don't talk about that here).

I'd go with a new 4S -- either Honda, Yamaha or Suzuki.

The ETEC has got my attention No maintenance for 3 years and to winterize a few moves of the throttle and it winterizes itself.Almost seems to good to be true. I'm waiting for all the bugs to get worked out and all the reviews to come in, by then I might be ready for a new engine.

I went with the Zuke DF300.

Six years warranty, and the latest technology seemed a good plan for me.
