SL Dave....I think the standard Hard Top shown is what he is referring to...If I'm not mistaken I think I remember Jay showing me pics of this boat and it had some kind of panels he built to enclose the helm....I think they were on big hinge pins....
Got the guys info....and permission to post it.... JeffnLinda@charter.net

Thanks AT,
I would love to see those panels. I am still thinking about an enclosure...not doing anything...just thinking.
Really an amazing price for that boat. This is the best time to be a boat buyer.

I doubt it did anything, it only went from the keel side of the 1st strake from the keel to the keel on both sides.

Re: 23' Pacific
i was contemplating looking at the boat, but planned on leaving the boat on a mooring from april til october and got nervous when he told me about the screws in the hull . i think if you trailered it would be fine , but left on a mooring i would always wonder if a screw fell out or corroded. is that common for people to put on pacific skiff bottoms?

Re: 23' Pacific
If that hull has foam in it I wouldn't worry about it , with foam in a 23 it will only hold about 140 gallons of water and sit about 1" [ inch ] lower in the water.
Or, pull the screws out , weld the holes and bottom paint it. It's ALLOY , that's what's COOL about it.

Re: 23' Pacific
I heard through the "grape vine" that some plastic was added to the bottom for additional bottom protection against sharp rocks. It was the owners choice to do that .

Re: 23' Pacific
It would take a pretty serious rock, at a pretty high speed to puncture that 1/4" plate bottom. From what little I know about anything, I would say a piece of plastic would do little to help. Was he just thinking it would help it slide on rocks better? Just curious as to what would possess you to drill holes in the bottom of such a nice boat. . Anyhow, if anyone were to buy it, it doesn't seem like a huge deal to remove the screws and weld up the holes.
My two cents.
Nate.

Re: 23' Pacific
The way the owner used the boat he needed it to be able to slide on sand and be pushed into the water with a special bracket on the rear with a truck, apparently bare aluminum has too much grip on sand, that is why the plastic was added. The plastic is in perfect shape as is the boat, I do not think it has ever come in contact with any rocks.

I guess the trash talk over on BD is hard to take a break from, huh.
Getting a bigger badder Buttwieser boat now? I wonder.
