Venice, Louisiana fishing 3-23-2010

Tues was probably the most epic tuna bite of the winter . . . I'm sure the reports will be forthcoming from the charter fleet.

I didn't get to Venice until noon, and launched the boat and got to the fishing grounds about 3pm. Drift and chunk. Put some tuna in the boat.

My buddy Capt Ross (charter in Florida and Alaska) caught his first yft ever, and boy was it a good one. It whooped his BACK SIDE for over an hour.

Lucky we landed him on 60 lb. fluoro and 5/0 circle hook. The hook was about two inches behind his jaw and the jawbone/teeth was rubbing the leader the whole time . . . lucky.

Got a couple 40-60 pounders and headed in around dark. Didn't get back to Venice until 10 pm or so.

Also caught a good size aj on the chunk.

Fun little afternoon trip.
