motor queston for boat

i am rebuiding a 21' starcraft boat. i wont to know what size motor do i need to push it good. dont care to much about top speed but i dont wont to get run off the water.... i dont know what size motor you can install on this boat. anyone with experince please help.

Max 8 people or 1150lbs, Max 140HP, Boat, Motor, gear 2100lbs

what motor do you guys recommend. i will have to buy used when i do, but what hp do you suggest

I always go for MAX HP , no one ever complains about to much HP . When you don't have enough it's a bummer.

115 hp and up is what I would look for in your case.

I have a 88spl on mine, equals 90hp without a VRO, plus some little extras. Pushes its very nice.
