Let me know if this correct.
When laying a motor down, say on a flat bed trailer for transport..."many miles".
It would be prudent to dump the oil in it.......right?
Any other precautions to take I may not have thought of????

Re: transporting a 4 stroker:
I bought a pair of Yamaha F150s a couple years ago, I had a dealer package them, all he did was drain the fuel and engine oil and crate them. The oil in the lower unit is sealed so you do not need to drain it.

Talked to my mechanic today......"we're on a daily chit chat session". He said leave the fuel alone, dump the oil and then just for a safe guard pull the plugs after standing it back up when I get home and check to see if they are oily.
And Vroom, Vroom....if not call him.
Yeah I figgered

If it is larger than 30 horse check with places around the area that rig boats and see if someone has a shipping crate it will save damaging your motor. If not get some cheap carpet and wrap it very good more than 1 time around it will save you from damage and repaint were the tie down straps and the deck of the trailer came in contact with the motor
