This was the BIG news 100 years ago today...

The Great Blue Norther of 11/11/1911 was a cold snap that affected the central United States on Saturday, November 11, 1911. Many cities broke record highs early that afternoon. By nightfall, cities were dealing with single-digit temperatures on the Fahrenheit scale. This is the only day in many midwest cities' weather bureau jurisdictions where the record highs and lows were broken for the same day. Some cities experienced tornadoes on Saturday and a blizzard on Sunday

It meant it was my birthday, been waiting for this one to roll around since I was a wee fellow. There was even a chance of baby number three sharing it but we still wait for the baby, 2 weeks till it is due. It was a cool date for a birthday. Next year my Nephew has 12/12/12 for his 6th birthday.
