Oyster Nazi " No Oysters for you"
AAB motto "Got Alloy, Got Wood"
Laurel and Hardy smile........ "Thats another fine mess....... Hardy"
But seriously , I appologize been sorting pictures for Tackle, Gear and Techniques and did get a little side tracked..... Some video and pics are just too funny. Some will be shown. Some will be edited and some should be burned never to be seen...... unless anyone of us decides to run for politics or win the lottery
les you should get 500 gig hard drive Today just try to keep pics in some sort of order.
"Pete and Doug have I thanked you today?" "Thank You!."
On to fishing tackle....................

Re: Alaskan's what a people 2012
Okay, before Welder goes picture posting crazy after he gets the HD containing all of them.
I'm going to post them as they occurred
These pictures will be after we leave the fuel dock as seen in the video part 1
Right after leaving the marina, we attempted to jig up, without success, some fresh Herring for bait
There was a group of fisherpersons working a school off the rocks
We gave that a try then headed out to our first spots
Mojomizer (Mark) made sandwiches for everyone and we passed a care package off the propnut's boat
Propnut (Doug), along with Welder (Les), and Mr. Z (Zack) broke away to try his spot and we proceeded to an area to set out our shrimp pots
Baited our canisters with shrimp pellets, we set up two strings of pots, 3 + 2 for a total of 5 in 400- 500ft. deep water and mark them with a buoy
After setting out the pots, we headed to our first fishing spot.
We found a promising looking ledge and dropped anchor.
Spoiled one (Pete) said that he was told that you might need to wait an hour with baits soaking for the fish to pick up on the scent.
An hr. and 10 minutes later, Pete boats our first Halibut
5 minutes later, I get one a little bigger. 5 minutes later, Mojo gets one a little smaller.
The bite died after that as it seemed that the current started changing directions.
We were feeling pretty good about our success.
Little did we know, Doug and Les were battling one very nice barndoor which they didn't tell us how nice of a fish it was!
We pulled anchor and met them back where we set the shrimp pots at.
They hoisted their flatty up and with the tail touching the ground…
3rd. times a charm (3 shots)
You will be able to see in the next video, the hoisting and our reaction
They had already pulled their pots and got like 3 shrimp?
We checked ours and got a couple of gallons worth?
We reset the pots for the night to check on them in the morning
Here's something to take notes about:
The shrimp like areas where the glaciers enter the water.
Another bonus with these areas, there's floating ice around.
No need to buy ice. Just scoop it up!
We met Jerry on the water. One of the members on the Alaskan fishing forums
He ended up side tying to us for the night and had some adult beverages with us
We made a short run to Granite Bay to spend the night
We got a better look at Doug's fish, headed the shrimp and cleaned the fish
Grilled shrimp and Halibut along with some seared tuna that came from Costco was our dinner at about midnight!
Well, the picture taking ended about here.
So until day 2…

Them Texan's with hand guns. Bullets go flying and he's in love, Nice grouping by the way
Don't mess with Texas.
Port Wells area was beautiful with monster Glaciers.
Today's word of the day "Moraines" no Jetty not what screws up the St. Johns river
Moraine- Noun 1. A ridge, mound, or irregular mass of unstratified glacial drift, chiefly boulders, gravel, sand, and clay left on the ground. (Sea Bottom ) Translation: that be fishy type places.
I thank Scott for being the new eyes. Watching those eyes bug out at all the sights. (Still does that to me too.) Scott taking alot of pictures allowed me to be a bit more lazy about camera duties......... I have a new meaning for TAKING pictures.....
Thanks Duuuuude .

I have to wonder if all that shootin' had something to do with the bent up hook?
Might have shot off one of the shanks
PS: Pete gets a single gunner

Nope , no hook shot, I had 3 in a good group and it was my fist time on a H&K .45 compact.
Pete cheats, he uses a .410 and can get the end of the bbl. right over the kill zone.
But hey, I'm not the one who has to explain to my girl friend why I had a blond on my boat .

Re: Alaskan's what a people 2012
So there I was doing my Galley thing........ Grilled Shrimps being passed out librally but still had to taste one. By time the smoke cleared all that was left was a plate of shells and tails. Who could have eaten such a cornucopia of shrimps, what shrimp bandit could have eaten soooooo many. Went through the usual suspects the racoon gang from Texas???? Nope
Alaskans...... Nope Then I saw this photo.......
A little closer look and I have the evidence.
My friend.... Mi compadre..... A fellow Southern Californian.... Et Tu Brute??? Shrimp carnage on the Patience. Gastronomic assassination. Oh the humanity
At least people can keep their hands off of the Grilled garlic butter oyster presentation....... To be continued at a later posting.

Scott, I do not embelish..... "Sir did you eat or not eat the shrimps...... I want the truth!!!!!!!!"
Let me tell this true story....... 10,000 years ago, there was a great freeze. It was so cold...... the oceans froze. From northern Japan my relatives said let's move. Californy is the place you oughta be. To the tip of Russia they treked. We saw a beacon of light, Sarah Palin's house and crossed what is now known as the Great Bering Ice Bridge. Later to be re-named Ted Stevens International Ice Bridge. We loved Alaska and some decided to stay. The great Chugash Tribe was formed on the Island of Nuchek (by the way Nuchek is a Alutiig word that means "Last Land Before Open Water"
This is a very distant cousin of mine (see the resemblance) I am a Nuchekian at heart and soul. Please send "Alaska Permanent Fund" to ............................
This trip meant so much to me retracing my ancestor's steps Connecting with my peoples.
Mad I just want my "new Check"
