Wow....good idea. Never seen a close up of a CW to notice.

So many ideas so little time huh?

Now, they call them Hull stiffeners, also.

What's the diff.

And why do I see some "skipped" and some not.

Would doing a long 2 of them, on my hull sides cause any kind of warp, or any kind of problem. Skipped, or continuos ??

Hmm, now I'm actually learning something.

I just fish = "no extrordinary mechanical talents"

Dave, the SKIP WELDING or intermentant welding, reduces warpage and distortion to the parent metal [Hull] and also allows for drainage . If you do a continuous weld it should be BACK STEP WELDED , like start One foot in front and weld back to the last start, this method pulls the material in tight and clean plus you don't keep making the parent metal HOTTER as you travel.

Dave the Hull stiffeners are the name that Alaska Copper and Brass calls the shapes. Usually you find the product inside in the bilge. Coldwater has used it as do others to form their rub rails. Les answered your other question. Enough Spot welds on the new rub rails will keep every thing just fine. a little wire brushing and then some polish and apply what ever you have on the rest of the boat will keep it nice for you.

No for the other reason for this post. Got a deal over on the Hull Truth Classified Adds; parts forum for $650. Chit is expensive for my bank account but needed.
Just found a Helm with SS wheel, lumitec 12" blue/white led lights for Cabin or aft deck, Bep Electrical switchs and relays for twins and house battery, Ritchie Compass, 6 rod holders A while back got a sweet binnacle for twin engines along with the key switch and wire harnesses.

Update got the cuddy tacked up ready for welding. Still need to trim the sides down though. They will be capped with a pipe to finish of the edges so the backs of your calves don't get tore up from edge when fishing off the bow.

The window for your viewing pleasure. Only 1 of 11?. The ? is do I go with double slider back doors with corrasponding wider aisle? I have one vote for the double slider and a bench on the port side. What say my audience?

Both port windows are cut now. Tomorrow the front along with the Starboard side will be done.

I'm getting over SIX gallons on the heater tank. A cubic Foot holds about 7.4 gallons and your a little over 1500Cid in volume and a gallon is about 233Cid so 1500 div by 233 = 6.4 so yes it WILL hold 3 gallons of fuel.

Merry Christmas , send the check for the bigger fuel tank to me.

Are you all bored to death yet waiting on me? Got two more windows cutout. I did run down to Harbor Marine to pick up a windshield wiper (AFI 1.5 HD waterproof with the cover and a pantagraph wiper arm) to check to make sure I left enough room for it.

In the cutout you can see the Metabo cordless drill and Jig Saw. I had to come and get something to eat so I updated for you all.

2.5" half pipe in both corners of the windows will be the chases. Pieces are cut but needed the windows out and the metal straightened before I could install them. One of my projects for the day today. I will also be prepping to get the floor ready for the Cabin. Fuel sending wires need to be installed in braided wire loom and then routed and supported. I installed 1 additional hose clamp to the vent lines. I found out they along with actual fuel lines need to be double clamped. The fuel lines where just not the vent lines.

Grab rails installed. Made from 6063 alloy, bent in my HF Pipe Bender. Dave and I used the pattern from the wings mentioned to do most of the matching and marking on the bench. We bent them from 1" Schedule 40 pipe. Then set the rip fence to rip it. A little trimming and sanding they fit up pretty nice. The Standoffs are 1.75" and I used the joint jigger to cut the fish mouths. For the time being they are Tacked not welded in. Meet your approval?
