Pacific Boat 1925 Questions

#1

Post by Buskin »

I recently purchased a 2002 1925 without an outboard.

Any chance someone with this model could post a picture of the bottom of the transom V in relation to the outboard cavitation plate so I can get a good idea where to start when I hang my new outboard?

The bottom plate for 2002 is 3/16" so its HP rating is 70HP-130HP which is less than the newer boats.  To help me estimate the HP and propeller size/pitch needed, can you please also post your HP and propeller size?

Thanks, I appreciate the help.

Buskin, Welcome to the AAB.com Forum.
If the boat isn't new, it might have had and engine or two before.... (?) then what about just resting the engine mount clamps on the top of the transom and using the previously drilled mounting holes? Seems like whoever had the skiff before would have resolved anti-cav plate elevation in the wake issue ?

When in doubt, I've found that calling Pacific or emailing, and getting in contact with the "Oracle of Pacific Skiffs" Miss Julie. She is the solution to all things "Pacific". This lady have been very serious about replying to even non-Pacific-owners (like me) who just dropped by to ask questions.

Good luck with our skiff, and please post pictures of YOUR new skiff so others can see what you're asking about and how you resolved the question into answers?

Cheers,

Kevin, if I don't get any pictures from owners I will start where I think the correct height is with the existing transom holes.

I did email Pacific with my HIN and am waiting to hear back.

Boat is in storage right now, but when I pull it out, I will post a few pictures. Hoping to pick up the outboard this weekend.

I love the Kenai Peninsula area. I was stationed in Kodiak for almost 4 years and loved every minute of that tour - that is where I adopted my fishing pseudonym "Buskin" from the buskin river.

Take care,

Ken

Julie @ Pacificboats might be able to tell you if that Hull/transom was built to run a 25" or 30" shaft motor and most run their cav plate flush with the V bottom.
One of our old members , Cgrand, ran his 1925 with a Suzuki 175 and it did the job pretty good, we always say to max the HP, no one complaines about to much HP.

Welder thanks for the suggestions.

I just heard back from Ashley at Pacific Boats and the information I had found for the 2002 was correct.

I have a DF115B lined up for the repower and am hoping to pick it up this weekend.

I look forward to contributing and learning from the forum members.

Take care,

Ken

Thanks and I agree about Spring!

Hard to see, but there was about an 1/4" of ice on all of the horizontal surfaces so it is kind of cold to do any outside work...

I have a 2005 1925, when I purchased it it was powered with a Honda 90, I used a Quicksilver 16 pitch prop and was able to get 36mph at 6k rpm. I have since repowered with a Mercury 150, I can get close to 50mph now, just trying different props. The added weight doesn't seem to make any difference, scuppers are still above the water line by quite a bit. My boat has the 1/4" bottom, aluminum fuel tank, also no T-top. It is my favorite boat I have owned so far.

MacCTD, thanks for the information about your setup.

My 2002 is only rated for 130HP max, so that is why I went with a 115.

Going to try a 19 pitch SS propeller with the 115 and hope for the best.

Take care,

Ken

Picked up my new Suzuki DF115B this weekend, but it is too damn cold to do anything with it.

Still in the crate in the back of my truck due to all of the snow...

Keep the truck/motor locked up, those motors grow legs real fast.

Finally warm enough to get the outboard out of the back of my truck.

Now I just have to get the boat out of storage and get it home.
