Re: The Journey Begins
Days are getting shorter till I go and get my new Hondas installed at the Defiance Shop in Port Orchard. It really depends if I can get the wiring connected up this weekend. The guy I had made the deal with about 5 weeks ago had car trouble last week said he could not make it out. Than this past week he would not answer his phone or text. So not much was done on the electrical.
Friday I got my windows and door from Diamond Sea glaze $5800 for the 9 windows and the double sliding door. They are sweet looking but No pictures of them for you.
Saturday I spent the day trying to get some wiring done. I did get a lot of the wire harnesses snaked through the roof supports. What I did got done was wiring up the FFs and AP. The overhead radio box is almost done just need to add the ground bus bar and the NMEA 0183 wires connected to the Standard Horizon Radio. I also installed the shore power select panel along with the circuit breaker panel. Need to hook up the sink water pump and wire 120ACV plugs.
Sunday I used a Metabo 4" drum sander (400grit scotch brite) along with my palm sander and 220 grit sanding discs to sand down the house. The last picture is is a picture of what it does . The panel on the left is my back bulkhead after using the polisher. The panel to the right is my SB Side wing and it is original with out any scratches. It looks good. The Metabo tool made getting a finish that looks pleasing; easy.
Yesterday's 70* weather made it warm in the shop. I like it around 60* Take the shorts and flip flops and keep the warm weather Down South where it belongs

A plan that comes together is a beautiful thing.
Thanks to Ted aka Blackvelvet, Travis aka Blackmouther, and Jamie aka Waterdog247 and son for showing up and making it happen. They showed up yesterday got the 9 windows installed. Today Ted and Travis came by and we installed the Sliding door on the back. I have one more hatch in the cuddy to cut out. Will be done this weekend.

Re: The Journey Begins
Looking like I will be done next weekend. I still need to change the Brakes and axles on the trailer along with installing the Electric over Hydraulic actuator and batteries.
I left two guys in the shop today to continue the Electric Wiring. Still need to run a few more wires for some more components that I have yet to install. Fresh Water sink pump, Back deck lights and wires for the Downriggers. One setback today is I had to go to work. Ran by Harbor Marine Supply forgot the Fuses. Tomorrow!

Forgot to add drilled two 4.5" holes in the Hull to add the SS264N Twin Transducer set up from Airmar. I bought the pair from Simperfifishing on The Hull Truth.

Re: The Journey Begins
John, What are you useing for axles & EOH Actuator??? If I may make a suggestion??? I use Dexter Axles on all my trailers. I have an account at a distributor called Nuera Transport, http://nuera-transport.com/en/transport ... onals.aspx, They have pretty much anything you could need for a trailer & their prices are great. The closest warehouse to you is in Arizona, so shipping will be a pretty penny. They carry Dexter Axles to any width you ask for, And galvanizing is now available from them. I hear their EOH actuators are really nice also. I noticed most places that sell axles only offer you certain spring-to-hub dimentions, Dexter will build it to your dimentions any which way you want. Or at least talk to your local trailer parts supplier to see if they can get them. I can get the Dexter E/H1600 EOH Actuator for about $120 cheaper than every other place I looked & I have looked at DOZENS of places from my coast to your coast & everywhere in between. Just a thought.

Re: The Journey Begins
I called Dexter quoted a price of just under $800 per Axle. Called Six Rooblees and got them made and shipped out. They are Dexter, price was $375 plus 324 to ship them to Everett WA. I went through Eastern Marine. I called Dexter for their recommendation for the E/H Actuator to use with Tie Down Engineering G5 Disk Brakes. Their 1000PSI one has no residue valve. For some reason Eastern calls out that Actuator for Drum Brakes only. Dexter Said it is good to use on Tie Down Brakes.
Sunday I will be installing them. Monday or Tuesday next week will be taking her down to have the Motors Installed. Wiring is all most complete. A few things still need to be completed; i.e. inverter, battery charger, fridge, shore power, and some little components fan, blower, and deck lights. I owe some pictures to this site and BD.

Re: The Journey Begins
If you call Dexter or order from Dexter DIRECTLY the prices are higher. If you order from a Dexter authorized dealer it will be cheaper, don't know why that is & don't want to know why.
Did you get the "E-Z Lube" option?????? It works GREAT.

Re: The Journey Begins
That-A-Boy. It makes changing the grease SO much easier. I use a "Pistol grip" grease gun so I can rotate the wheel as I pump the grease so it evenly coats the bearings. If the budget allows, get some hub caps/ center caps, it will keep the sun light off the rubber cap so it doesn't dry rott as fast. I have 6 of each in my tool box for each axle, boat trailer is 3500#, utility trailer is 6000#. Every year the grease gets changed reguardless of mileage & every so often the rubber plug gets changed also. Don't want to loose a wheel over a rubber cap that costs 16 cents.

Re: The Journey Begins
Again the board is dead as is the rest of my Favorite Websites.
So I will post up a couple of pictures of my Second Station. I am going with a AP 24 Control Head mounted in a box we built in the shop. Last Friday it was welded on the Back Bulkhead. Monday I mounted the Head Unit. Some time Honda will release their rendition of Fly By Wire Controls for the BF line of their motors. I will update the controls soon after it is proven reliable. The control Actuator by hearsay will fit under the Engine Cowling. That is much better than the Glendinning Control Actuator box that is 7.25" 11.75" X 4.5 tall. Valuable real-estate in a a small beam boat.Hopefully they will also release a remote control to wear around your neck like the TR1 uses for the Kicker motor control.
Tomorrow the Bait Tank will get completed and mounted. and wiring will be continued. Tuesday the boat goes to Chaps for a floor treatment Sans Paint. He wants to shoot the floor with his Paint Stripping Water and Media Blaster. Get rid of all of the Scratches and roughing up the surface for Extra Tuffs to stick to.
He stopped by this morning to pick up his new Diamond Sea Glaze Windows, the Metabo Polisher, and his new Navionics Chip of Puget Sound.

Re: The Journey Begins
In preparation of tomorrow's little bit of welding I do to some Fabricatin/Rizzerizzon. Brandon (Bruce's Son and Russ's(aka CWB) little brother)over at Coldwater Boats likes my design. He is making one for a Almar that they are Modifing for a Customer. After I get them two brothers on my boat this Summer for Tuna; they will be telling Dad that they need a Shop Boat to show Clients what their boat can do. Plus they get to fish it when there is no Clients. They Might take their Sister along as well. Maybe not
So I cut the schedule 40, 2" pipe off of the bait tank. I made a new drain tube from a 40" long section of schedule 80, 2" pipe. Prept a piece of PVC 1.5" pipe that slides down the drain pipe. To drain the tank you will have to pull the PVC pipe out. Half tank you rotate the pipe 180* from the full tank position. My rendition of the commercially available bait tanks like the Big Salt Bait tanks from Defiance. I did not get one of theirs do to the space available to put it on the deck.
It still needs to be weld back on the tank and a PVC cap glued on to the inner pipe. Then the tank gets welded into the deck between the two fish boxes and the battery compartment as planned.

- the bottom end. I used my Drill Press and a .190" hole saw to remove the threads of one side of the Aluminum Union. Then TIGed it to the Schedule 80 pipe. a 90* pipe fitting will be screwed in to allow for water to run Over Board. This tube will below decks and drain out port side under one of the Aluminum Fenders we welded on.

Re: The Journey Begins
Thanks for reading. It is coming to a close for now. Still need to do interior work but that will wait till the Fall. I still think there is at least another month of work and pictures to be shown. But the fishing starts May the 9th.
I do want to thank Mike Miller for the Transom Box lids. Got some more ordering from him to do to finish it up. I was checking out his website for stuff and I noticed he has knife and plier holders. Need to get 6. To for the Bait Tank and 4 more for the Downrigger mounts.
Well I played at the house today till 5pm. Jim the welded showed up an welded the bait tank back together. Then we nailed it down to the deck.
It looks awesome. 39" tall. Awaiting the fish cleaning table to be fitted to it.
I should have it ready by Tuesday the 16th to head across the Sound by Ferry to Kitsap County for finish work. i.e. motors and aft deck work. BOB aka Omakase aka chaps will blast the aft deck with water and media to ruff it up a bit. No paint as of yet wanted nor needed if Bob's work will suffice. He said that it will work.

A Major Mile Stone was achieved Today.
The boat is now legal.
Not a illegal alian from Eastern Washington.
I got my Hull Number and It's Registered.
Thought you would like to know this.
Motors are to be installed starting Wednesday. Bob aka Chaps gets it on Tuesday for a Day if I finish the Wire Job.

Boat looks great. Nice lines. Couple of questions. How wide are the sliding doors? How many gallons that bait tank hold? Any way you can split the tank so that you don't have to fill the entire tank up? I've seen it on plastic tanks.

Re: The Journey Begins
The Opening is 38" and the doors are like 19" with the door Handle stopping you from fully opening I loose like 2" per door.
I copied the Basic Design of the "Big Salt" Tank made by Defiance Marine. Turn the PVC 1.5" pipe 180* you drain out to a half tank. The amount of space to add a center Water Tight Divider would be a lot and then sealing would be a pain. A Full 60 gallons or half at 30. I drilled a 4" hole in the deck under the bait tank LED light to replace it if ever it burns out.
Issues And the Ford Truck Put a kink in my plans. Truck is in the Shop

Pulled # 48 Relay. It wiped out the computer Program for the key so no Start. Fixed and back at the shop.

Re: The Journey Begins
A new milestone was achieved Last Thursday night. Boat has Electrical Power and it is now in the hands of Defiance Marine in Port Orchard for the installation of the two Honda BF 250's from the "Gunslinger". Worked on it till 12:30 Thursday night when we finally turned on the power. I hooked up the boat and ran over to Port Orchard on the West side . I slept in the truck till 8:15 when Bo showed up and opened the gate to let me in. I did notice as I was disconnecting the truck the Right Front Wheel and Tire was MIA. All 6 lug bolts had snapped and the tire took flight. It seams that it was the last tire put on by a friend and he was distracted by me when I asked for a ride to get the relay for my broke BACK SIDE truck. He slid the air wrench to another friend to finish and it got missed on the final torque. A new tire and wheel combo $240 plus the $245 for the new Disk assy. I will install 6 new wheel lugs and store it along with the extra Caliper as spares.
