Watertight bulkhead penetration

#1

Post by jrbaldwin »

Hi, I am looking for a watertight bulkhead penetration. Currently have the following rubber boot type installed in motorwell and cabin bulkheads.

Any good ideas or products?

Thanks,

This is going to be pricey, but look into bulkheads from the electrical industry.

roxtec and mct brattburg come to mind.
but those will not give you and "play" in the cables.
not sure how astetically pleasing they are.

As well try perhaps the Crouse-Hinds brand.

G'Day Jim,
This is one solution.

A number of alloy pipes welded through the bulkhead horizontally. The cables, fuel lines & hyd lines are run through
& are sealed with 4200 or a similar product as the pipe in the lower left of the pic shows. The 4200 acts as a sealant & also prevents
any chafe problems. You have to disconnect everything but there is no way around that.

Thanks, Looked through all the Electrical Bulkhead Penetrations and didn't find anything that I liked. They are all set up for round wires.

Decided to thy making a penetration out of aluminum pipe with a flange that can be bolted to the bulkhead, then fill it with rubber. Will check out the 4200.
Wanted to be able make/drill additional hole for more wires if needed. Also thinking of making a two piece penetration so I don't have to disconnect everything.

BLUE SEAS Brand "cable clam"......but it looks as if you'd need many of them. For all those wires.

Both the Blue Seas Cable Clam and the rigging tube is what I use. I also use the Teleflex bulkhead fitting on the hyd hoses that get exposed.
