CTMD's latest aluminium boat launch...

Boab boat hire have just launched the first of their new 6.5m Centre Cab fishing boats. The boat is designed to pass the strict new NSCV safety requirements with 7 people on board. We are currently finalising a new 5.7m bow rider for the same client with plate due to cut as soon as the cutters return from their Christmas holidays.

Looks a bit "short and stocky"...a "George Costanza" boat.

If I call that number, I wonder what Sprint/Nextel would charge me?

Let me ask the obvious question and stop fooling around.

Do they rent/lease them? Is that what "boat Hire" means, in Australia?

The short and stocky is the result of the need to keep the boat below 6m (measured length) and still provide 750mm rail height, 150mm cockpit clearance fully loaded and have good head height in the cabin.

Yes Boab rent these boats out to anybody with a license. Its a franchise system with branches all around Australia stocking "identical" boats. We are currently replacing all the boats in their range with custom designs that are more suited to purpose and are future proof against the new rules that are being introduced here.

That's really interesting. I looked at the web site, thanks.

There is boat hire places here, but they are usually cheap inexpensive boats, or Pontoon boats being the only thing "aluminum".

I can understand why they have certain requirements. But there's no hiding when in one of those boats, is there?
