Can you tell us about your system there goatram?. Looks impressive. What is the mounting board made of that the switches are attached to?

I got a 18"X12" plastic Cutting Board new. Trimmed it up to fit the spot16"X10" Mounted the pot puller Solenoid, CB, Ground Stud, along with 5 more automatic fuses/CB, + two Fuse panels, one for the Bilge Pumps and the radio constant Voltage (always powered from the motor#1 Bat) the other panel is for all of the added circuits in the back of the boat. The BEP Battery Switches for Motor, House, Combiner and the Automatic Voltage Sensing Relay to the board. I separated the all of the power and retermed all of the screwed up wires in the back side of boat to get rid of the corroded wires. used solder and heat shrink with the glue or the crimp style term ends with the glue on the wrapped heat shrink. Wednesday the voltage on the FF was 12.5 V till the #1 battery was recharged and then the FF bounced up to 13.6V after about 10 minutes or so.

Thanks for the description. That cutting board for mounting is a good idea and I was wondering what the solenoid was for.

Is that a battery charger mounted on the left side of the picture? If so do you find it handy and reliable? I'm looking into one of them as well.

I like your set up. It is fairly similar to what I'm going to end up with.

My VHF turns on and off all by itself .

It is a Minn Kota 210 that i bought last year at Cabela's in the bargain Basemen. It makes the maintenance ( Full Charge) easy. The charger does not leave any room to put group 27 batteries in there. When I make the back end a self bailing deck this fall and winter I need to find a better spot. It to is mounted on a 3/8" cutting board then held to the side by two bolts and nuts. Easy on and off. Just a bear to get it out when the Batteries are in. I have the plug mounted to the outside of the box Port side. Plug a extension cord into the wall and to the boat a Snap.

Jamie I might be willing and able to help. My gremlins were all of the unsealed terminal ends non tinned wire and but splices that Northriver installed originally and in 2005 when the boat went back to the factory to have the stern reattached for the Original Owner "Barry Hanson" from Ferndale.

Sculpin, that's not a good thing! I have two issues that I would like to resolve.

1) My charger/inverter is wired wrong, I think... It won't read battery one (housebank)when plugged into shore power. When I am under way and switch over to charge it, the volt meter drops down to 12 or less, even though a multi-meter on the terminals shows 13+. I was having the same problem with this battery when I bought the boat, and thought it may have been a bad cell. I replaced the single 12 volt with two lifeline 6 volts and wired them in series. The problem persisted. At least now I have a spare battery

2) The rats-nest of wiring in the engine compartment. Everything runs ok, I just foresee some potential problems. Electricity has never been my strong point, and I am terrified of wiring something wrong and frying everything on the boat.

Start with those last two pictures. Remove the nuts from the studs and clean the terminal Lugs. From the look of the heat shrink who ever was in there did the job right except for no dielectric grease. when you reassemble spread some grease on the studs and terms. The battery issue; start tracing the wires and Identify them.

O Ya turn off the switches and shore power when you disconnect those leads

It's removed when he is chasing Charlie. How he stores it I do not know.

That tackle center was a spendy item for Wayne's boat it was a one off design. The project was made in 2 parts I made the base that holds the plastic boxes and 24" table first it was supposed to bolt to the lid. Wayne came back later and asked if I could make the piece that fits in the bin hole. He brought me a template and I drew it in Cad and cut it for him then mated the 2 parts.

Wayne says the table & base fits inside that bin when he is running or should I say flying that boat with his 900HP power plant.

Adding the tackle center to your table can be done but would need to be redesigned to fit your needs. Wayne provided me with the plastic boxes they were the same as some other ones he had from a tackle center that came with the boat so he wanted to stick to that size so they are all interchangeable. Wayne did not want a door on the front to hold the boxes in place so I put in some press fit SS detent balls There is one on each side for each box. Give me a call and we can talk.
