What a great September! (pic heavy)
We were able to enjoy three weekends out on Prince William Sound this past September. It seemed like we would head out of port Saturday morning in the rain and some sloppy seas with the hopes of a nice Sunday. I don't think I have wet a line since August. There is more to life than fishing right?
We spent each Saturday playing games and watching movies in the cabin while the espar did its thing. We would hit the rack listening to the rain come down and awake to blue bird Sundays. Hard to beat!
Harvesting some salmon berries:
Cooling off under a little waterfall:
My two little people taking a break on one of nature's chairs:
I bet we ate more berries than we brought out. The weekend's bounty:

Re: What a great September! (pic heavy)
I have been playing around with our camera's panoramic feature. I think I like it.
We joked about bringing a bucket of balls and a couple of clubs. The grass was short enough that we could have had a three or four hole course.

Rafted up with another alloy, finally. It is a 24 foot wooldridge.
Another panoramic:
It was a brisk 40º in the morning. It doesn't seem to faze the little mini me.
I never get tired of the views:
Not many berries made it back to the boat on this trip.

Re: What a great September! (pic heavy)
My son's friend has a propensity to jump in various bodies of waters. They had his birthday out on the sound in early May and the water temperature was in the low 40ºs. Today, the surface temp was a balmy 45º. He wanted to jump in, but his mom wasn't that keen on the whole idea. We assured her that the espar would be cranked and we would deal with getting him dried off.
He took the plunge:
I told him that I would do it IF his mother would do it. No way would she step up and take the challenge, right? Women are so much more level headed than us "y" chromosome carrying guys. Wrong! She called my bluff and went in.
CRAP! This means that I have to go in. I am of the mind set that you had best go big or go home, if you start talking smack. It was not nearly as cold as I imagined 45º water to be. (I think my nads dropped back down about mid week.)
The other dad couldn't be left out so he upped the degree of difficulty with a front flip.
This left just my son and the three year old. The three old was the only one with any sense this weekend.

Them shrimp sure are tasty. I cannot sit and eat them all not, but 30 or 40 tails sure are good! My kids still think that their mom and I are cool and they like to hang out with us. Some day that may change. I hope it isn't coming anytime soon.goatram wrote:Truly the Spoiled one Sir! Wow looks like a great way to spend the summer. I've been waiting for a thread like this from you. Those panoramic shots are very cool. Nice to see quality time with the family in the great outdoors. Thanks for posting.
Do you hunt blacktails up there?

Re: What a great September! (pic heavy)
That was just September, John and a great one. I have not hunted black tails. They are out there, but the best hunting happens once the snow pushes them to the beach. This doesn't happen until late November or early December. I am not taking my boat out then. To much work. I would like to hit Kodiak or South East AK and hunt them, or hunt them like sheep in August. Once the kids get a bit older I will probably give that a shot. I ain't getting any younger, though.Sculpin wrote:Wow looks like a great way to spend the summer. I've been waiting for a thread like this from you. Those panoramic shots are very cool. Sabs, after 30 something years of sleeping with my wife I miss the company . I would rather sleep wit the bear than with Pete and I'm sure Pete feels the same way. One thing though.... that dang bear sure does snore a lot.
