Wooldridge Pilothouse's under construction photos
Hey all, i know i love seeing fabrication photos of all kinds so i thought i would throw some up for ya. We happen to have four different SS Offshore Pilothouse boats under construction all at the same time right now and i just took a few pictures of them out in the shop. I will try to keep some photos coming as we go. Let me know if you guys have any questions and enjoy!
One boat is a 23' which is going to northern B.C., one is a 24' going to California, one is a 26' going to Montana and the other is a 26' going to the east coast

This is the 24' which will be heading to California in the bay area. It will have a full self bailing rear deck and will be powered by twin 115 Yamaha's.

Hre is another photo of the 23' showing more of the structure in the rear. Notice the rear helm which will get a locking door and the dual side trays. The top tray will get a locking door to secure rods.

Hey Grant:
If you were going to sell a 23 SS pilot house to someone who likes to troll with downriggers most of the time, what do you recommend for power and controls? (e.g. single with a kicker or twins, kicker with a tiller, aft steering station or TR-1, etc.) I realize it is probably "whatever the customer wants" most of the time, but was curious about your recommendation.
Thanks,

Well you hit the nail on the head. It is whatever the customer wants though i would deffinitely explain all the options and pros and cons. Many of the big engines troll just fine and i see many customers (especially in AK) who troll with just the main engine who dont even have a kicker. That being said a kicker motor is an added sense of security and also keeps hours off the main engine if that matters to you. We can do any version though i would say one of the most common on a Pilothouse boat is to have a rear station set up for controling the remote kicker. A TR1 is nice but not necessary unless you ask the oppinion of anyone who has had one. :) A TR1 can be added to any scenario, kicker with tiller or remote kicker. Once you have fished with a TR1 then you are likely to always want one esspecially if you are the guy in charge of driving, baiting hooks etc as it will free you up a little more to fish yourself.
As far as power recomondations for a 23'; a single 200 - 250 or twin 115's. A good high thrust 9.9 or 10hp kicker is ideal.
I hope this helps.
Grant

Here is a good thread on a nice 23 Super Sport Offshore Pilothouse model from the Sports Fishing BC forum.

Hope you don't mind me hijacking your thread Grant. Is this one one of the ones you have been posting above?
