What seats for my new boat?

#1

Post by BCTony »

Well build has started on my new North River Seahawk Offshore 24' and I am still oscillating with a few details. Thinking about the front seats and whether to maybe drop the standard NR 'Mariner' seats for a truck-type seat with compressed air suspension. Would very much appreciate suggestions.

Suspension seats are a wonderful thing, enables you to comfortably run the boat in lousy conditions. Kidney and spine savers, worth the money IMO on any fast boat to be run offshore or in big chop.

Suspension seats are worth every penny. A year from now you will be very glad you put them in.

I was hoping that someone might be able to recommend a make and model. I believe the (Bentley) Mariner that comes as standard with the NR Seahawk Offshore is a mechanical suspension seat but requires regular maintenance. I am thinking of a compressed-air suspension type but now I have started looking at truck seats I am bedazzled by choice and would very much appreciate specific recommendations particularly from those who have suspension seats.

Do you have a Truckers supply showroom in the area. My local area we have International Freightliner. They have seats in stock ready for sale. Price range $650 to $1000 or so. A heating element adds about a $100 per seat. The compressor is about $150 and up

Tony, I have had mariner seats and many others in my own boats over the years and none of them, come close to the comfortable ride a air ride seat delivers! We carry the best air ride seats used in the industry and have the seats you need. Have North River contact us and we can sell them either the Bostrom or the National air ride seat of your choice, and the best air compressor package as well. They will get our OEM pricing as well. Our Air compressor is Ignition protected and can be installed anywhere in your boat. Check out our website: http://pacificpowertraininc.com/product-category/seats/ for seats or: http://pacificpowertraininc.com/product ... mpressors/ for air compressors. We got you covered. You can also see a preview of our products on AAB forum manufacturers links: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=4625 for seat info, or: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=4626 for compressors. We have the best seats and compressor, and I use them in my own boat...you will not be disappointed! 509-243-7840

I've got one of these, Bentley mechanical suspension, salvaged it from a boatyard dumpster!
They work OK, not as good as an air unit but way better than a solid mount chair.

These are what come as standard with the NR Seahawk Offshore. I am looking into the National and Bostrom air ride seats.

Congrats on the NR/OS! My NR Seahawk hardtop is also in production as we speak.

I chose to not go with the Mariner seats. I am using Seaspension pedestals with their deluxe seats. I did not want the maintenance of the painted steel, do not like the squeaking and am not a fan of the pogo action of that type of suspension seat.

That is what Lube is for. My National Seat in my NR Seahawk was squeaking BAD. After a few trips it finally got to me and I pulled out the Grease Gun and lubed the fittings.

When You finally get them and test the boat out let us know a little about them and how you like em. And Welcome another Ifisher

Well I finally decided on the National Seating 'Admiral' air-suspension seat. Got a good deal through Pacific Powertrain (see earlier post) and the seats arrived at North River about 10 days ago. Can't wait to see them fitted and better still try them out when my new boat is completed and delivered  .
