Shooten & Stuff

Over the last year I hve picked up a few toys...
Ruger SR1911
Springfield 1911 RO
and an XDS45
With every new toy that comes home , my wife asks, CAN I SHOOT this one? Each time I tell her if she can work the slide she can can shoot it.
Well, she isn't well off in the forearm and grip department and I told her she should buy herself a shooter she can work with to build up her arms and grip with. So last weekend she bought HER OWN shooter, a SR22 along with her own ears and ammo and YES I'm one PROUD husband.
Today we made it out back to the ROBERTS RANGE and she commenced to shoot the snot out of our steel targets, it took 3 mags [10rounders] for her to figure out where to hold and then it was "game on like donkey kong" by the time we were done she was banging 9 out of 10 from 25' and had a SMILE on her face. Keep in mind, these AR500 3/8" steel hanging targets are in pairs 6"-8"-10" and 12" and hung chest high.
But here comes the best part, her last shot. I ask her if she was done with the .22 and she said yes. So I ask her if she would like to shoot my SR1911 and she said OK, so I loaded her up, showed her how it works and let her go and it was click-BANG, steel was a rocking. God I love my wife.
Here is the Steel...

That is truely a nice set up you have in the back...next time I'll be bringing my SA XD9 and 38 revolver to play around on your range...that would be fun! M has not decided whether to shoot or not...it is as you said the slide/stength issue. Have fun plinking. BTW what is the maximun distance you can do at your facility. Very cool set up!

pjay, we can shoot about 30 yards right now, if I trim one tree we can do well over a 100 yards.

I just picked up 3 boxes of 22LR today it was the last on the shelf at a fairly big gun shop inTacoma, Wilchers, where my BIL works part-time...no family deals as owner is pretty tough customer and the prices are good anyway...got some 9mm practice rounds also and a new holster for the SA, inside the belt clip in leather, feels real good walked around the house today for a couple hours and it felt comfortable.

It's starting to show up more but some are still pretty proud of it.
I have been shopping on , www.gunbot.net , need to check that site all though the day as the prices can change every couple of hours.

Traxx, I'm ecstatic that she bought her own firearm and would like to get her CHL one day, with a larger caliber of course.

I got Letty, a subcompact XD 9 a few years ago. It took a few times shooting to loosen the slide up for her. I'm still trying to get her to get her CHL even since the class room time was cut this year she just won't go. :banghead:
I can't wait to get home Wed, my 460 Rowland conversion finally shipped. Ill be putting that on a Dan Wesson Valor 1911.

I got a Kahr P380 last year. Shoots well for a little gun. A couple of months ago I bought a SA XDs. I haven't had time to shoot it yet. How does it compare with yoour 1911 A1 Les?

The XDs is a cool little gun and .45acp is a smooth round to shoot, it's not snappy like a magnum round so the little one is not bad just don't limp wrist it. The factory grips are rough on the hands after a box of rounds though .
I did get the 7 Rd. mag for range time and then end my time with the 5 rd mag to stay comfortable with it but over all it's a pleasure to shoot.

Of course the full size A1's are ALWAYS FUN to shoot .
