Welcome Maggie!

I have two little girls who love to go out on the boat and go fishing, too!

Do you drive the boat?

Do you like to go fast?

What's really amazing about those New Zealand boats is that they don't fall off being upside-down like that! Must be super sticky alloy bottoms!

Again, welcome!

Hi Maggiemizer,
Do you like to fish for trout?
If you do, ask your dad to take you up to Big Bear Lake to fish in the WON Troutfest in the fall
It's a family oriented tournament. Especially for kids :) :o :P

Hi Maggie

I reckon Google Earth is pretty cool too, I live in Wanganui in the North Island of New Zealand. If you enter: 234 Taupo Quay, Wanganui you will see our small boat building yard on the other side of the road from a timber yard. There are 3 cars parked outside.

We have the 3rd largest river in New Zealand running through Wanganui, it is normally brown in colour, Jay is probably right and it is probably brown because we are upside down in New Zealand and all the mud is on top of the water.

Cheers

Hi Maggie:

Welcome to the boating forum. Great use of the world wide web, don't you think?
And I do mean "world wide."

My kids like go-fast boats -- especially ones with "downstairs".

They've got me stumped when they ask me if there's a New Zealand,
where is Old Zealand.

PS We're from New England.

Was scanning some of my older photos and found this one of Maggie when she was just a 7 year old polywogmizer. She just seemed to have the knack for finding the right fish at the right time and land it. She has the best fishing mentor you can ask for in Mark.

It came out a little grainy, but considering the photographer... (remember that description of himself with the Mickey ears, camera around his neck, nodding and bowing...) ROFL
You get the picture.

Hi Maggie & Carol,
That's a real nice looking trout that you've caught! :P :P :P
The black spots look so pronounced. Were you at Laguna Niguel Lake and that is one of those Utah raised trout?

Hi Bevan. I saw your house on Google Earth. Its very close to the big river. Do you fish in the river? What kind of fish do you catch?
Scott. I did catch that trout at Laguna Niguel Lake. It was my first big fish. I have caught a lot. A halibut, lots of sculpin, calico bass, barracudas, and some more.
If I do better in school I can go fishing more. But now I can't go.

Hi Maggie

The river is good fun for Wakeboarding and skiing on in the summer.

A lot of people fish in the river but I probably havent since I was a kid (which is pretty sad when I think about that), But I am looking forward to taking my little boy Henry fishing when his is old enough. He is only 18 months old so we maybe we can take him soon. He is getting very excited when he sees animals now. They mainly catch kaiwhai, Mullet, eels, and flounder. Right in the river entrance they sometimes catch Snaper and Kingfish as well.

Most of my fishing is from a boat surprise surprise. And normally aluminium boats even more of a surprise! We normally have to travel 5-12 nautical miles to the fishing grounds. Most of the bottom is sand or mud but as you get further out there is good rocky spots with really good fishing. We normally catch Snaper(yum), Blue Cod(yum), Kahwai(yum Smoked), Barracouta(yuk), Red Cod(yuk), Gurnard(yum), Hapuka(yum), John Dory(yum), Tarakihi(yum), Trevally(yum), King Fish(yum). There are other less commercial types of fish caught also. To go diving we need to travel 22 nautical miles up the coast.

Here is a NZ fish Species chart so you can see the fish I have been talking about.

Keep your fishing pictures coming Maggie.

Hello Bevan, its me Maggie. Those were some weird fish, like the Gurnard that one makes me laugh. The John dory scares me. Hey do you know why they were named those names? After all why couldn't they be named a simple name? Thankyou I enjoyed your letter.

Scott, thankyou I enjoyd the HAPPY BIRTHDAY letter you sent. My birthday was on Tuesday the third.even though I celebrated it on Sunday at the beach. We were going to have a BQQ there but it wasnt allowed. So we had to BQQ at our house, it was fun.
