I think 275HP is the max on the current 2325, may be lower on earlier models.

I think a 24' Rocksalt 24 can handle 300hp. I'll build you one.

The Pacific can handle the motor with no problem.
If your boat is a commercial vessel, put what ever you want on it. If it is a Recreational boat and you want to Insure it, that's a different story.

I would say that a NEW Honda 250 would push the boat faster than the hull could handle.

Goatram,

Is your 250 Honda's "fly by wire" or old school cables and wires?

That's the difference of why many go Zuki.

NEVER have operated one of those new fangled "Modern" wired jobbies.....so I don't know the difference.

But wonder if theres a "down side"....I'm sure there has to be. Versus cables and no wires.

Believe I might go see Suzi-zuki my next time around......I'm registered as a commercial boat in Florida. Does that mean I can go twin 300's?

Maybe I can charge more for a thrill ride than a fishing charter?

It doesn't seem to matter for me. NO motors have a good enough warrenty for me. (They want to exclude me, and only give one year)

But suzi-zuki was doing 6 years total. Is that what you got?

Naw.....same size of the one BoB's building.

Goatram,'

At least your Honda 250's are a total redesign. The rest are not. Just the car blocks. I have lots of time now to study up on differences.
Seeing I have no idea when I'll fish (work) again.

I can usually squeek by if the dealer keep their mouth(s) shut. But the last time I had a giant issue (Hole in aluminum block) the dealer said I was a charter boat and immediately they HONDA backed up..."commercial gets one year of warrenty" because we're all rich I guess.
Instead of the 5 years they promised me! And had paper work for.

They all say they are best. Only wish there was a 100% independent source that would test like Auto's. Because if Outboards were built like Auto's, the Government would be fining all of them, like GM! Oh how GM thought they were the cats azz. Now they'll be kicked to the curb.

In the short term they all are good. The LONG term is what matters with an outboard. And not once a month usage like 99% of owners.

Jetty, I bought my 23 from a commercial guy up here 175 Zuke. This guy would fish in a hurricane, real hardcore! He had another boat to fish for pogies with a smaller Zuke on it a 60 I think, he sold that motor to a friend who also fishes (clamming I think) at the time he had 4800 hours on the motor, last I talked to him he told me that motor had 6800 and going strong. I have seen 225 zukes in boat trader in the crate down there for around 11,000.00. Way cheaper than up here in taxachusetts. When I travel to Cocoa Beach I wave down at ya from 40,000.00 ft. tuff to visit from up there! Clambo

I saw that......Yeah Cocoa ain't far from me.

I thought you had a Lund. I know I can't keep up with the Soaps are here. But ya have another too?

Yeah, yeah, I hear those same stories about many a 4 stroker. But, they certainly aren't anything that's happened to me.

Let's see:

225 Honda purchased with my boat: BLEM, built in yukahama Japan on a Holiday, and ZERO "QC"...weakspot in aluminum casting in a spot so hard to get too it was unbelieveable! It weakened and turned into a hole. Spraying saltwater all over the inside of the cowling. After just two years of use, and after a complete Lower Unit gear RE-bulid because the gears in L.U. chipped at one year!! Fixed hole with threads (3) and bronze plug with JB weld :!: Got 3 more years out of that shade tree-fix.

In the mean time, buy a 2nd Honda 225 used for $7300, and $200 for wiring harness so when Honda # one craps the bed, I can change out and stay in biz: Now that one leaks saltwater into the oil. OUT of biz again. Could loose my house this time. Zero income and loosing $$ by the day. FIX? At this time undetermined, cost or what even happened.

PRIOR YEARS:
-Cracked Suzi-zuki 140 lower unit. Oil seals always bad....ate water pumps like cookies :!: :!: :!:
-Blown up Evinrude 200, TWICE in 2 years
-Blown up Yamaha 200, powerhead replacement UNDER warrenty after only 1-1/2 years of use.

THEY all suck.Because they are not built with same care as a Car/truck. If so, the Government would fine the shet outa them like they do Auto builders..."But ya say no one died from a bad outboard??"

Not yet, but I'm on my way slowly. :hammer: The key is never use them, and keep spending and spending :!: :eyepop:

Well that's the runny chits after a night of margaritas and pickled eggs . . . If you can swing it somehow grab one of those Suzi's for $11 g's. My 2005 maxcat had the big Honda's, one of them grenaded for the guy I sold it to, luckily they put a new powerhead on for him.

Problem is I have two honda's.

One with water in the crankcase, and the other with no lower unit and a hole in the block where water sprays all over.

Gonna talk to my NY buddy Bob, about if cast aluminum can be welded so I can at least have some what of a spare going.......

Who sells Zuki's for 11K... :?:

Given your current situation I just thought it might be a means to your ends....hope things do get right for ya!

Hopefully I will be able to earn some $$$ for the first time in 7 Years very soon, I think my health has finally gotten good enough to give it a go. While the msm touts the job market here, if you are my age and have medical issues, no door will open. I thought maybe I could get on PT at a ff joint but nooooooooo, even the Daycare where two generations of my family have attended would even grant me an interview for an opening. So, back to my beginnings as History repeats itself for I am going back into the Courier bidness. And once things settle out, planning for a river/lake ride will begin. Really liking the G3 river setup in a 12-14' length.
