Non-Alloy boat Repower
Non-Alloy boat Repower
I know it's Glass boat, but I still have a different aluminum so I'm still part of the club.
It's a 29' Dyer raised deck offshore model.
I picked it up in July and put Over 400hrs on it, it takes the weather amazing BTW.
Anyways it had a ISUZU 6 BD1 125hp which topped out at 14kts at 3000rpm. The hour meter said 2k hours but had been rolled over at least once if not twice. So figure it had 12,000 or 22,000 hours on it. I wasn't sure about the history of it, and since I fish the ocean with my kid I felt safer spending the money for a new motor.
The plan is throw is a John Deere 4045 200hp, ZF85 gear, drip less packing tube, and new shaft and wheel.
This is day one picking it up and driving 1,200 miles home.
And dropping it off at "The Boat Haven" in Port Angeles.
The old Isuzu
And she is out, I forgot to drain the fuel talk like I was told.
Anyone need any parts? The block is spoken for but anything else is gtg
Bilge cleaned and painted
The new motor shows up tomorrow and I can't wait.

Boy O Boy what we have here is/was a big No no back in the day. A dog or a child had to be present in the picture alongside of the Clorox Bottle Boat for it to be posted and Accepted on Aluminum Alloy Boats . Com. Are we The Hull Truth? Jetty where are you?
Nice New engine ya got there. Did they come off of the install Price a bit? If I remember you had some quotes of almost the same as the cost of the engine to get it installed.

Re: Non-Alloy boat Repower
It's a semi dsiplacement, so I'm hoping for a 14-15kt cruise with a top end somewhere around 18-20kts.
I ended up going with a different yard, Hatton came out to look at my boat and we agreed to the number of man hours to complete it. Then I recieved their written quote back and it was still $70k, they added almost all of them back in.
The Boat Haven in PA bid about $20k less.

How about a dog on my last boat? She didn't make it out on this one yet.
A pic from summer.
Hoping to catch something worth bragging about like my brother with his butt. (he is 6'4" btw)

Buck
You got the OG issue cleared up with the Fish and Dog Porn Posted.
Back to the Technical stuff. One question; is the motor controlled by a Computer or is it still a Mechanical Operated Diesel? Meaning shut off the engine you just have to cutoff the Fuel. Simple System operation!

It is computer controlled.
I was worried about it for a while, but there is a few around now and they have been doing ok.
*Edit- it does have a coolent after cooler though instead of raw water.

Re: Non-Alloy boat Repower
I guess I haven't checked in for a few.
We are Making progress. The motor mounts didn't work. So we had to lower the motor to aline the shaft. I like the way the motor is sitting in theregards much much better.
Everything is bolted down and the alinement is withing 2thousandths. I'm just waiting on the exhaust and for them to put everything back together.
