How long?
Had quadruple bypass surgery July 22. I'm thinking I'm not the only AABer to go down this path. If you have been there how long before you felt comfortable getting back to the strap winch crank?

Re: How long?
Glad you are feeling better. Do the cardiac rehab regime, it really helped me. As for how long, that is a very individual thing I believe as each situation has its own circumstances. It has been 8 Years since mine & in my instance it has been more about accepting what I can no longer do more than simply moving on. I lost over half of my heart function so what once were mundane tasks I tackled with ease are now sometimes real efforts. Today, chasing the three Grandsons is a major workout and a typical babysitting Day usually drains me enough to require a full Day of recovery, lol.
Keep up with your meds & educate yourself about the dynamics of your situation. Interpreting how You feel vs. how the Docs treat you and finding consensus might mean you one Day do as I did and change Cardiologists as you become better self educated about it all. Ask questions & note them before a visit so you can relate anything weird, it can save you a lot of woe. I now take only 4 prescriptions along with my Qunol (CoQ10) & baby aspirin and have not needed any adjustments in 3 Years.
All in all, it is far better to be a little less and alive than the alternative.

I only do what the voices in the Tackle Box tell me to.

I'm sorry to hear that. It is true. It is a lifestyle change. Things certainly changed for us after my wife's first heart attack.

Re: How long?
Thanks for your responses. After insurance rehab was still a $100 a day. Opted to go it on my own. Feeling quite well actuality. One more month until the breast bone is fully healed. They used arteries from my arm and chest for parts. That allowed using the bike for workouts. Surgeon said "no cardiac restrictions". Sounded a lot better than the first conversion when he said "you are at high risk of sudden cardiac death". I'm 66 and have accepted we do not age like fine wine.

And I'm at that age now that if I knew I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself.
