The Japanese have really made an art out of this style of fishing. As a deckhand, I used to throw a lot of salas and tady iron, but these guys have a whole new game going on.

But it sure is a lot of work when its hot.

Think I'll stick to live baits that do most of the work in my old age. :D

I posted Jigging Master rods........weeks ago on here.

Me too, but I'll go with an Accurate jig rod just because I know sometimes that SNAP, and I wanna deal with someone right here.

I already had a band new Shimano Trevalla break on the 3rd jig.

I use a mini- accurate B-197 on my rods. Light and easy to work.

Unless you're catching 100 plus pounders I don't think you need a reel over anything but 300 yards of braid.

Bullshiper/Jeff a deckhand? When/ Where? In the late 80's I did the Freelance out of Davies Locker. You should show us your favorite bait making rigs. Have you tried a Butterfly type jig on the end of your Sabikis gives them some additional action. How about your rig for chasing for those huge PV cows.

The PV cow rigging is mostly live bait. I used to slow troll small 2-10 lb skipjacks, but now we live line over metered fish or use ballons. I have hooked a few on top water spinners, but the largest fish on a spinner only ran about 120 lbs- the larger models keep breaking me off.

To catch bait we use the micro ahi squids on small planners with long leaders, and while winding in trolled fish, a sabiki jigged over the side will usually pick up more.

Small 20-60 pounders like the feathers.

If your coming down under for a fishing trip then I reckon these are the guys to book with :shock: :shock: :shock:

I picked up a shorty 5'6" XZOGA Japanese Jiggin Rod over at Big Bait Tackle
in Seal Beach.....it was about $115.......
That thing is STRONG. lite and fast action....its already a favorite.
