Re: How much horsepower?
In reading around, just what are the cost figures for the various mfg's running in the NW? How about the fly by wire ones? Just curious since you are talking $$$ that I don't consider chum change and its for your gratification. Like all, there is no replacement for displacement and it is always bett...

Re: Pelagic Boats 28' Build
She's a beauty! And I agree, the wrap looks really good. The helm layout is spot on, uncluttered, everything seen at a glance. You have enough rod holders, sheesh, you'd think some folks would be happy having 30 rigs ready as shown but prefer the porcupine look of more.

Re: My new 26HT Pacific skiff
I love these threads! She is a beauty and I like that side door location since when docked the loading/unloading would be easier as well as for the reasons you shared. Those anchor poles work great where there isn't much current and the bottom isn't a rockpile and are really becoming a common thing ...

Re: USS Zumwalt christened
Yes it is JW as best as I understand it. The Superstructure is a composite and helps with the weight and provides some stealthiness I guess. Those cannon though, 155's with 83 mile range?!?!? TEN rounds a minute....gives new meaning to stand-off battery work when covering an amphibious landing. Very...

Really enjoy these threads, thanks Glen. Couldn't help but notice the OB variety and so I'll ask: Etec's have a good rep in your area? On the forums down here, the mention of Etec draws hisses. Interesting since you'd be hard pressed to find those few intermixed with the complaints about ...

Re: Surface Drives the ticket to efficiency?
We part company on what the Military needs for a stealth littoral insertion vessel has long been a goal and has finally been achieved. I can think of...$177 TRILLION in unnecessary spending that has gone on since 1965 that we damn sure didn't need. A SIV costs LESS than those speedboats NOAA and DHS...

Re: Surface Drives the ticket to efficiency?
CHtucker, yes I did along with another one buried there which is why I got curious. Commercial & Racing successes aside, there is much public cluelessness about the subject simply because the Tech trickle down to the consumer level hasn't happened nor been marketed. As far as cost goes, ~$30k wi...

Surface Drives the ticket to efficiency?
Reading around the many boating forums and keep running across threads where folks have gone with multiple OB's over an inboard setup delivering near equal performance at a hell of a lot better fuel economy. I understand the marketing side of this but at what point does practicality enter into it? O...

Re: One, two, or emergency bilge pump?
Ok, more questions about this foam vs. no foam deal. Can you not meet the requirements for floatation using watertight compartments like Stabicraft does? I'm aware that under 20' specific floatation requirements may necessitate foam but my question is why, if sealed air-tight compartments can provid...

Gotcha chtucker. Have you considered a fuel bladder for extending your range?
Here is a link to ATL Range Extension Bladders and some of the ways users have employed them. Many of the tournament fishing guys use them.

With respect to bilge pump setups, one can read horror stories about failures on the boating forums. Are any familiar with this product and might it provide another option for your dilemma?

Re: 600 Ponies
Lol, way too much boat for me. I have to have one I can manage alone if necessary and quite frankly any boat over 20' won't go where I like to fish in the rivers AWAY from everybody else. BUT, here's something NEW and I think the concept is a winner for those who can stand the $135k pricetag: Waterc...

Yes Jetty, I have checked out all of those builders too and no, no fixed or firm decision yet. Proximity to me will play a part though. Still not giving up on maybe finding a good used one and with Winter on the way, maybe some of those guys fishing the bayous will be looking to move up!

Re: Your are pulling the trigger, what must your boat have?
Keep them coming guys, like Peezer with his fantastic build, I too hope to achieve what is for me as ideal a vessel as is practical. Regarding the SBD, that isn't such a biggie given the application and the size of the boat along with its design, which is almost all deck. Much as generations of adva...

Re: Your are pulling the trigger, what must your boat have?
Good ideas Mike and I have admired your work as shared on this site. A rig I can put up once we reach the fishing hole is precisely what I have in mind. Don't need twenty fishing outfits frankly and I don't use but three max when trolling for crappie, hybrids, and white bass. Small boat anyway so it...

To clarify: Inland fishing boat, 18' (20' loa) shallow draft. Lakes and Rivers for local species. Things like a bimini vs. a hard top, fresh water washdown, or how many batteries as trolling motor, two fish finders, night lighting? Removable tow post, rod holder rack across the transom, two removabl...
