Well looks like a good clean stale to start with. I would get all that crap out and start checking the rivet since you have easy access to them. Also check the center run front to back and make sure there is no crap at the ribs. This is how the water drains. I would check the transom, if it needs to be rebuild, just pull the old one out in one piece if you can, trace the old one on new marine plywood and epoxy the new transom. You might have to glue two sheets together to get the thickness.

Looks like someone added some support to the center rails with cross braces too. Also looks like its starting to rust and react with the aluminum.

Maybe this will help give you some ideas on what you want. This is the same boat Capt PJ found on his vacation.

i have to have the whole transom cut out and rewelded back in. i have a guy that makes custom alloy tanks for race cars that is going to do that for me. i have rebuilt a wood transome before in father in law boats. my question is does the factory wood on the outside of the transom have to go back on?

Wood on the outside? there should be no wood on the outside. The only wood on that boat should be the transom and floor.

These boats stand up to salt water fine when you trailer them. Just wash them down after each use. I just drop mine into the local lake and run it on the trailer.
