Problems, big time. Cylinder Head issues and Honda extended the warranty by 10 years because of it. There new engines are 135 to get away from the 130 horror show memories.

Do more research, you're smart in asking around.

damn round here the 130 Honda is so popular on Carolina skiffs as crab boats/ mullet boats, and redneck fishing guides with minimal imagination.

The 130 was a heavy WORK HORSE , just don't let the carbs sit with junk fuel in them all winter or you will be cleaning them.
How many hours on the motor and what the Compression?

The Motor has 210 hrs on it, Very little for a 2001 Honda 130hp ! No compression test has been run yet. I have heard Parts are hard to come by on the Older motors such as this one?? True or false?

Parts are easy to come by becasue there are lots of 130 parts motors out there. Here's one with a head issue.

"1999 130hp honda four stroke outboard - $3000 (Lowell ma)
Selling my honda 25" shaft. head gasket went motor runs caught it before it did damage ( milky oil ) sellin as is for rebuild or parts asking 3,000 BRO engine has 434 hours have hour gauge to prove it if it doesn't sell I will be parting it out lots more in parts than what I'm asking or spend 300 bucks in parts and you have a nice honda for cheap dough!!!

OK, talked to my Honda Tech.
Yes the 130's had Head problems, Honda made it good for the owner then added a 10 warranty. If you can get the VIN # of the motor ANY Honda dealer can run it to see if the work has been done.
If memory serves, Honda had those heads [ the bad ones ] out sourced .
You might go to www.hondamarine.com and look to see if there are any recalls .

It's been my experience that Honda stands behind there product.
